Since Magento is commerce-based, all its features are designed to give users creative and tailor-made designs that are suitable for creating an online store.
Some of the features that are available on Magento are multi-shop administration, portable device e-commerce, report creation, SEO, marketing, and much more.
Just like WordPress, Magento has two versions, which are the Commerce Edition and the Open Source Edition.
Comparison Between WordPress and Magento
Before getting to the differences between WordPress and Magento, it is worth looking at the similarities between the two platforms.
Similarities
Architecturally speaking, the two platforms are similar. Each platform operates a system that provides users access to templates and themes that can be customized. Likewise, the open-sourced communities of each platform are actively involved in providing users access to solutions to different types of problems.
Nonetheless, there is a significant difference between the two platforms, which are discussed below.
Platform Orientation
WordPress is a type of platform that is optimized for the creation and presentation of content to users. Therefore, most of the tools, templates, and plugins that are available on WordPress work best for content-based pages.
On the other hand, Magento is optimized for the creation and presentation of e-commerce content.
Types of Templates
WordPress templates have posts and pages that are easy to change and edit. As a result, its simple process allows a user to interact with pages and contents at the point of creation. Likewise, a user can customize such templates for better control and functionality.
Magento also always for editing templates that determine the design of pages and posts. However, the process needed to complete such a task may be quite involved. An individual with an elementary understanding of programming may not have the skill to customize Magento templates.
